The Director General of Planning Institute, chairman of the Preparation Committee for the scientific symposium on ( Libyan economy and the World Trade Organization .. Opportunities and Challenges) pointed out that the aim of this symposium is to study the ways and means to orient and prepare the Libyan economy to the negotiation phase to join the WTO.

He indicated, in his speech at the opening session of this symposium today in Tripoli that Great Jamahiriya enjoys an observer status since mid 2004. Now it is in the orientation stage of its economy to join the Organization that includes more than ( 150 ) member states and constitutes more than ( 90% ) of the world trade.
