The National Program Committee for Mines Removal and Land Reclamation held a meeting this morning in Tripoli in the presence of the Secretary of Cooperation Affairs at the GPC for Foreign Liaison and International Cooperation, Head of the Program.

During this meting, attended also by members of the program, Director of Public Department for International Organizations, Head of International Security and Disarmament at the Department, the attendants discussed the mechanism of activating the Program's work and its development to carry out its functions perfectly.

The meeting addressed opening prospects of cooperation between the mentioned program and the Geneva Center for Removing Mines for Humanitarian Purposes , in addition to cooperation with other international organizations and centers specialized in this field.

It is worth noting that the National Program for Mines Removal and Land Reclamation was established in 2004 according to a decree by General People's Committee no. ( 185 ) chaired by Secretary of Cooperation Affairs at GPC for Foreign Liaison and International Cooperation and membership of delegates from the General Interim Committee for Defense and GPC's for Public Security, Justice, Planning, Agriculture and Animal and Water Resources, in addition to two delegates from Sert and al-Butnan Shabias being the two Shabias mostly harmed due to these mines.
