The great Libyan Jamahiriya is giving great attention to develop and exploit the Natural Gas resources to cover the local market increasing requirements, and to create new International market , as it has successfully established for the Crude Oil demands.
In this particular frame some agreements have been reached and concluded between the Libyan National Oil Corporation (N.O.C) and Agip Company of Italy in 1974 where 12 new discoveries were achieved in the offshore field (N.C-41) the Boury field was the most important discovery and has been put on production in 1988.
Aiming to improve the economics of the project and to reach sufficient production to meet the local Libyan market been decided to join Wafa field in the Sahara desert and the Offshore field-Bahr Essalam to form one project named (Western Libya Gas Project) WLGP.
Due to the Scattered locations of the WLGP components in the sea , on coast and in the Sahara desert and to its complexity , it has been subdivided into eight (8) main packages awarded to several major EPC/EPIC contractors for execution , in addition to the drilling activities (onshore and offshore) . These main packages are :-
1- Wafa Plants .
