100 Italian Scholarships for Libyans Sons of Resistance FightersThe Committee of Italian Scholarships announced on Tuesday that it had 100 scholarships available for qualified Libyan undergraduate and graduate students in Italy and that those who wish to obtain these scholarships must submit required documents to the committee as soon as possible.
The scholarships are provided by the Italian government as part of the Libyan-Italian Treaty of Friendship, Partnership and Cooperation that was signed in August 2008.
The scholarships come also as part of the Italian compensation of the Libyan people for the colonial era that lasted from 1911 to 1943.
The first group of 100 students will be followed by other groups of students after the graduation of each group.
Aside from being the son, daughter, or grandchild of a Mujaheen the declaration of the committee also lists the conditions and qualifications required to be granted the scholarship. Among them are:
The applicant must have a good standing average accredited to the applicable General People's Committee for education and scientific research.
That only one child may represent one family. Priority will be given to the descendants of martyrs who led many battles of liberation, as well as children of those children of Libyans who were imprisoned or have had property confiscated from them by Italian colonial authorities.
Applicants will include both graduate and undergraduate students representing Libyan universities and high schools around the country.
Students who are willing to take this opportunity and study in Italy are required to submit the necessary documents including a proof of the applicant's beingthe son or daughter of the a Libyan Mujahid.
