PART II –  DUTIES
A.     POST CONTEXT: The Engineering Consulting Office is looking for a full-time translator/interpreter for Arabic and English language. The incumbent will report directly to the General Director and the Secretary General of the Engineering Consulting Office. The principal duties and responsibilities of the incumbent will be the following: 

B.      PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

· Translates non-technical and technical documents from Arabic into English, and vice versa, primarily with regard to the civil engineering, architectural, legal and financial area,
· Interprets in liaison and consecutive mode from Arabic into English and vice versa,
· Drafts correspondence in one or more languages based on the instructions received,
· Assists all ECOU Departments in administrative functions that require interaction with relevant stakeholders.
· Assists in preparing, compiling and editing documents and presentation slides and handouts for various meetings.

C.     ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
· Assists in compiling relevant glossaries.
· Maintains knowledge of specific and technical fields and related terminology.
· Keeps abreast of issues related to the policies and business activities of the ECOU.
· Other administrative tasks as directed.

PART III – QUALIFICATIONS
A. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:  A minimum of three year- experience as a professional linguist or in a related field.  
EDUCATION/TRAINING:  University-level degree in the relevant language(s) or in another subject if education was accomplished in the mandatory languages.  Arabic: either educated mother-tongue or full professional level; English: fluent knowledge. Ability to interpret in liaison and consecutive mode and translate at the required level of quality.
LANGUAGE (listening, speaking, reading, writing):
Arabic (Mother-Tongue or Full Professional Level)
English (Full Professional Level)
STANDARD ADP KNOWLEDGE: Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Internet Explorer

B.     DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Court certified translator/interpreter for Arabic and English language.
LANGUAGE: 
Good passive knowledge of language(s) (especially French) other than the mandatory ones.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES: The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills both in Arabic and English languages. He/she must be willing to improve his/her knowledge and skills. A team player who is able to multitask, work by himself/herself and  and under time constraints.  The incumbent is expected to take the initiative when required and must be detail-oriented, flexible, trustworthy and discreet.
CONTRIBUTION TO THE OBJECTIVE: The successful candidate will be expected to translate and interpret to a high standard, thus guaranteeing to the Engineering Consulting Office for Utilities effective and reliable communication both internally and externally.
