Gas as a Substitute for Oil

In addition to the use of gas as a feed a tock for the complex plants in Brega and Raslanuf, aportion of it may be utilized as a source of energy for the operation of some plants and power stations on which are currently operated by oil products.

At present, the Brega Musrata- Khoms pipeline is under construction, and is approaching consumption. This pipeline will transport gas to consumption points du- ring the eighties. This pipeline also constitutes a first step in the coastal gas pipeline which is to be constructed along the Libyan coast. It may constitute an extension of the Arab pipeline project.

The Brega Musrata- khoms 34 inch pipeline extends over a distance of 670kms. Through this pipeline, the foll owing plants and power stations shall be supplied with their needs of gas:

1. Ras-lanuf ethylene plan
2. Sirt fertilizer plant.
3. Sirt power station.
4. Musrata steel & Iron complex.
5. Musrata power station.
6. Zletin power station.
7. Zletin cement factory.
8. Leptis cement factory.
9. Khoms power station.
10. Khoms cement factory.
