As part of the cooperation program that the International Oil Companies are implementing in Libya, and within the framework of the sustainable development program designed and promoted by NOC,  on 9th July,2008  in Ubari an event took place to deliver two completely equipped ambulances and two buses as part of the first stage of implementation of the Ubari Hospital Improvement Project, which was signed last November 2007 between the Ministry of Health and Environment and Repsol along with its partners (Total, OMV and Statoil Hydro), under the sponsorship of NOC.

The project scope includes the investment of a budget of 6.5 MM Euros during a timeframe of 5 years. 1.5 MM Euros will be dedicated to the training of the medical staff who work in the Hospital while the rest will be invested in the refurbishment of the hospital infrastructure as well as in the delivery of medical equipment.

A document was signed for the delivery of the above mentioned equipment between the director of the Ubari Hospital, Mr. AlKheir Fouad, Mr. Ibrahim Sherif representing Repsol and Mr. Mohamed Kamel Zendah, representing NOC  under the presence of the Secretary of the Ubari’s People’s Committee and a representative from the Ministry of Health, as well as a number of other local authorities and representatives from Repsol and NOC.

In the Murzuq basin, 40 km. east from Ubari, and 730 km. south from Tripoli, Akakus Oil Operations conducts its development and production activities in blocksNC115 and NC186 whose production started in December 1996 June 2002 respectively.  Repsol, Total, OMV and Statoil Hydro are part of Akakus Oil Operations.
