Libya has withdrawn its support to the Cairo Document on satellite channels and will ask the Arab Information Ministers to follow its example, the head of the Libyan Journalists Syndicate said on Monday. "I have just been informed about the decision by Information Minister Nouri Al Humaidi and we now look forward to the other ministers in the Arab League adopting a similar attitude," Ashoor Tlissi told Gulf News. Arab countries in February adopted the document that imposes regulations on Arab satellite television and bars offending their leaders or national and religious symbols. The channels should avoid broadcasting obscene material and should protect Arab identity from harmful effects of globalisation, the document said.
