The international exhibition for Libya's infrastructure and energy sectors, Projex Libya, has attracted more than 150 exhibitors from 20 countries, all looking to develop their trading links with the Libyan market.
The four-day exhibition which will open on Monday 10 December at the Tripoli International Fairground, enjoys the support of the General People's Committee; the National Oil Corporation (NOC); the General Board of Fairs; the Libya Contractors Union; and the National Union of Chambers of Commerce.
Projex Libya takes place against a background of huge economic development as outlined in Libya's National Economic Strategy which makes provision for multi-billion dollar investment in the expansion, upgrading and modernisation of the country's vital infrastructure and energy sectors.
Many of the international exhibitors will be participating within national groups supported by their government export promotion agencies. They include: Canada, China, Greece, Japan, UK and USA.
Canada: The Canadian Government sees Projex Libya as an ideal event for the Canadian export community to showcase its expertise and is supporting a Pavilion of companies that will be profiling oil and gas technology; telecommunications and engineering.
China: China is taking a large exhibit space to show the country's technology for the upstream and downstream sectors of the petroleum industry. Included in the Pavilion is one of China's leading drilling rig manufacturers, Shandong Kerui Co, with other Chinese companies displaying petroleum industry equipment and pipeline technology.
Greece: The Hellenic Export Promotion Organisation (HEPO) is bringing an impressive pavilion of Greek companies showing wide ranges of products relevant to the building and construction sector. Products will include marble, lighting, kitchens and bathroom accessories.
Japan: The Government body, Japan Export Trade Organisation (JETRO), is supporting the country's major petroleum companies looking to interface with Libya's energy sector. They are Japan Petroleum Export Co Ltd (JAPEX); Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC); and INPEX Holdings Inc, a joint holding company by INPEX CORPORATION and Teikoku Oil Co Ltd.
UK: The Oil and Gas Directorate of UK Trade & Investment is supporting a large group of companies drawn from the UK's oil and gas industry, all seeking to develop their relationships with Libya's energy sector.
There will be a separate Pavilion of UK companies addressing Libya's infrastructure sector. Companies well known in the market including Biwater and Corus will be showing technology and expertise ranging from water management solutions to steel construction systems.
USA: The biggest group of US companies ever to participate in an exhibition in Libya will be displaying products and services of interest to all those involved in Libya's economic development plans. The companies are participating with the support of the US Department of Commerce through its trade fair certification programme. Projex Libya is the only US Department of Commerce certified infrastructure and energy event in Libya.
The most impressive participation in the exhibition will be from Libya itself, with large-scale displays from the National Oil Corporation (NOC), demonstrating NOC's achievements and future plans; the Organisation for the Development of Administrative Centres (ODAC), promoting its role in the implementation and management of Libya's major infrastructure projects; and the Great-Man-made River Authority (GMMR), responsible for the world's biggest engineering project, showing its achievements in providing water security for the country's population and to aid agricultural development.
Both international and national companies will be showing equipment, materials, products, technology, consultancy services and management expertise important to Libya's modernisation programme and economic progress.
Projex Libya is aimed at government and private sector planners, specifiers and procurement officials involved in Libya's infrastructure and energy development projects, including: civil engineering; building and construction; housing; environment; transport and communications; water and irrigation; power and electricity; petroleum engineering; petrochemicals; commerce; and education and training.
