GPC held its 6 th meeting which was headed by Dr. Albagdadi Almahmoudi and discussed a number of topics of the agenda.

The Committee discussed a number of topics of the sector of Foreign affairs and International Cooperation and decided the following:

  • In the implementation of the General People's Congress resolution No. (11) 2008 determining how to manage the sector of Foreign affairs and international cooperation and how to select its People's Committee. GPC decided to nominate members of GPC for Foreign affairs and International Cooperation as follows
  1. Mr. Abdulaati Alaabidi. Secretary for European Affairs.
  2. Dr. Ali Abdulsalm Alteraki. Secretary for African Union Affairs.
  3. Mr. Mohamed Sayala. Secretary for Arabian Affairs.
  4. Mr. Mohamed Albarani. Secretary for Asian Affairs.
  5. Mr. Ahmed Alfetori. Secretary for Americans Affairs.
  6. Mr. Ali Alreshi. Secretary for Expatriate and Immigration Affairs.

The Committee also approved for the sector of Foreign affairs to ask for help of a legal Consultancy office of international experience in the field of maritime delimitation for the delimitation of the continental shelf between Libya and Greece.

The Committee discussed in its sixth meeting the topics of the financial sector and decided to approve the agreement for settlement of the loan granted by Libya to the Republic of Burundi; and to authorize finance sector and the Central Bank of Libya to complete the legal procedures for reconciliation of the debts of Libya with Syria and preparation of memorandum of understanding in this respect.

The Committee also discussed a number of the issues of the sector of Manpower, Employment and Training and decided to approve the remarks made by the sector on the project of the administration rules of executive authority for reborn energyand the approval of the Statute of engineering techniques company.

The Committee reviewed a number of issues of the sector of industry and mining and decided the following :

-To approve the project of general framework for investment agreements in the field of mining and the report of the committee formed to review the agreements on mining and the use of the expertise of friendly countries and the application of the environmental conditions for investment in the mining sector.

-To approve the issuance of the Regulations of Law No. (2) for 1971 on mines and quarries.

The Committee also discussed at its meeting the topics of its agenda:

-Approval for the public security sector to grant citizenship to a number of female citizens of different nations and married to Libyans according all legal requirements.

-Approval for the sector of economy, trade and investment to issue a decision to except use of non Arabic language in granting trade names of the joint companies in Libya and the Arabic Language will be the reference in this regard.

-Approval for the sector of economy, trade and investment, to carry out the necessary arrangements for the next negotiations with the European Union for promotion of joint cooperation between the two sides.

-Approval to consider some sites in shabiat Jafara , Tripoli and Benghazi for public benefit works , including tracks power transmission lines , reservoirs and water transport routes.
