*Areva says Libyan electricity contracts worth 300 mln eur
PARIS (Thomson Financial) - Areva said electricity contracts signed with Libya this week are worth 300 mln eur.
The French group said it has signed three contracts with Libyan state-owned utility GECOL to reinforce its electricity network. The first contract is for the turnkey delivery of 10 high-voltage, gas-insulated substations to help improve the transmission network in the cities of Tripoli, Misurata and Benghazi.
The second contract involves the turnkey delivery of two high-voltage, gas-insulated substations for transmission between new power plants and the Sebha and Tobruck regions. Under the third contract, Areva will supply 69 power transformers to reinforce the network.
The French government announced earlier this week that Areva had won electricity contracts from Libya, but did not disclose any details.
