Oral health has a low priority in the health care system of developing countries. Many communities in developing countries remain without even the basic emergency care services; the professional dental treatment other than teeth extractions is usually out of the question because of the lack of equipment and dental materials and the African region has the most pressing problems (WHO). In Africa, dental health promotion has mostly consisted of the implementation of oral health education actions, there are no consistent policies unlike in other developing countries. AOHO purpose is to ensure that the highest quality dental care is provided to the African population. Through dental health promotion,AOHO aim is to create an environment favorable to the adoption of healthy behaviors such as dental hygiene, nutrition, fluoride intake and dental services utilization.
